Giulio Bonasone,
Epimetheus opening Pandora’s Box, 16th century

Zeus punished men for Prometheus’ theft of fire
by causing the first woman to be created out of clay

This woman is Pandora: ‘All-Gifted’,
because of the gifts provided her by the gods

She is Man’s punishment for the theft of fire

Pandora opens the jar
in which all kinds of evils are contained
they escape and wander over the earth

Only Hope remains in the jar

The Fragment…
And first
the hosts
executes with hands!

And when she has drunk
off a golden horn full of wine
she will eat a dumb old man
